An effects pedal, or stomp box, is an effects unit that alter the sound quality or timbre of the input signal, adding effects such as distortion, fuzz, overdrive, chorus, reverberation, wah-wah, flanging, phaser or pitch shifting. These are called Boutique FX Pedals as they only produce one effect. Multi FX Pedals incorporate the standard effects in one programmable unit.
